Government grant support may cover some or, for certain suitable properties, all of the cost of an eligible heat-pump installation.
Subject to Boiler Upgrade Scheme eligibility, property suitability, heat-loss calculations, selected equipment, installation requirements and final written quotation.
Funding is subject to current Boiler Upgrade Scheme rules, property and applicant eligibility, technical survey, room-by-room heat-loss calculation, approved equipment, installation requirements and final written quotation. A £0 customer contribution is only available where the applicable grant covers the full cost of the quoted standard installation. Additional work, including radiator, electrical, plumbing or building alterations, may require a customer contribution.

How Funded Heat-Pump Installation Works
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme provides financial support towards eligible heat-pump installations in England and Wales. In some suitable properties, the available grant may cover the full quoted cost of the standard heat-pump installation, resulting in no customer contribution.
For other properties, a contribution may be required towards a larger heat-pump system, radiator upgrades or additional installation work.

Most Properties
Potentially Fully Funded
Most suitable properties may receive a standard heat-pump installation, including a new hot water cylinder, with no customer contribution where the available grant covers the full quoted installation cost.
Subject to eligibility, property heat loss, system size, survey results, installation requirements and final quotation.
Larger or Higher-Demand Properties
Grant-Supported Installation
For some larger or higher-demand properties, the grant may cover most of the installation cost, with a customer contribution towards a larger heat-pump system starting from approximately £500.
Radiator upgrades and additional work are priced separately.
Higher-Heat-Loss Properties
Individually Quoted
Properties with higher calculated heat loss may require a larger system and a higher customer contribution, confirmed after survey.

Most suitable properties may qualify for a fully funded heat pump, including a hot water cylinder — subject to eligibility and property survey.
Radiators May Be an Additional Cost
The funded or grant-supported heat-pump package does not automatically include every radiator replacement.
Following the survey, a room-by-room heat-loss calculation will identify whether existing radiators provide enough output at the proposed heat-pump operating temperature.
Where upgrades are recommended, Type 22 or other appropriately sized radiators may be specified.

The final number, dimensions and cost of radiator upgrades depend on the survey, heat-loss assessment, pipework, valves, access and room requirements.
We strongly recommend completing all radiator upgrades identified by the heat-loss calculation so that the heat pump can heat the property effectively and operate efficiently.
